Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was an extended interview with Rabbi Richard Margolis of Temple Beth Shalom in Melborne, Florida.  Rabbi Margolis was called as a last minute fill-in for another guest who was unable to be on the air with us during the 9:30 - 10:00 slot of AM Ocala Live (the program which preceeds Pulse).  Rabbi Margolis agreed to remain with us for Pulse Of The Taxpayer to continue a discussion started during AM Ocala Live about the current crisis in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas.  BOTH segments are included on this podcast and, so, the beginning appears abrupt.  Pulse starts about 15 or 20 minutes into the podcast.

Today's show was disappointing.  After such a great positive and productive show yesterday, today we sank to a level so low I was tempted to not even submit it as a podcast.  Nevertheless, here it is.  Listen to it if you want but nothing constructive was said and it is mostly a rehashing of the same old stuff.  What seems to be missed by many people is that if you are going to debate then you should be prepared with facts and examples.  Not a series of unrelated acquaintances.

With that said, let's hope tomorrow we can stick to the issues of local, state, and national/international concern on Pulse Of The Taxpayer.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was listener-driven and focused, mostly, on a story from Daytona in which a 38 year old mother had her children taken away from her because the state of Florida said her IQ was too low.

Neal Connor and Gary Schor, from The Liberty Sentinel newspaper, were our guests on today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer and, with the direction of the show primarily controlled by the listeners, we discussed minimum wages issues, North American Union concerns, issues of concern to the Florida voter and taxpayer, etc.

A variety of topics were covered by the listeners on today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer.  Much of the conversation was theological in nature.

Pulse Of The Taxpayer was listener-driven again today and seemed to focus on illegal immigration following an announcement from the State of North Carolina that they would no longer permit illegal aliens to attend community colleges in that state.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer had a loosely adhered to theme of "pet peeves" which maintained itself throughout the other issues brought to the program by the listening audience.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was a discussion regarding what to believe and what to question.  Propaganda and our own levels of astuteness and/or gullibility are important elements in all discussions especially when they are of political nature and I wanted to explore those elements by putting myself into the "hot seat."  The results were pretty interesting, I would say.

Our guest on Pulse Of The Taxpayer today was Chris Gunn, Communications Director of the American Small Business League.  We learned from Mr. Gunn how government contracts, intended for small business, are often entered into with large corporations.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was listener driven.  Several legislative issues were brought up during the course of the show that were based on current events in the Florida news.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer featured guest Rabbi Sam Berman.  Rabbi Berman is the Rabbi at Temple Beth Shalom in Ocala, Florida and we talked about Holocaust Remembrance and the political climate in the world during the early 1900s that led to the rise of Hitler and contrasted those observations with today's political climate in the world.

A variety of issues were discussed on today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer including a lawsuit based on the fact that gasoline expands during hot temperatures, a DVD by Alex Jones that documented many of the New World Order issues, plus a visit by Gary Schor.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was a listener/caller driven show.  Several issues were brought up by the listeners including the presidential candidates, Florida legislative activities, the IRS, and others.

Today's program took a look at the voting records of the three U.S. Senators who are currently the front-runners in the campaign to become the next President of the United States.  The look was done anonymously, identifying the candidates as simply "Candidate One", "Candidate Two", and "Candidate Three."  At the end of the show the true identities of each of the candidates was revealed.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer featured an interview with our guest, Marion County Commissioner Stan McLain.  Commissioner McLain spoke to the audience about solid waste management, the crowded agenda of the County Commission, Earth Day related topics, and a variety of other issues.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was caller driven and touched on several issues including a local issue regarding the use of off-road trails in the Ocala National Forest, a national issue regarding the contracts issued by the US Military to gun manufacturers, presidential candidate Barak Obama, and a proposal in Arcadia, Florida to boost the local economy by authorizing a nudist resort.

Today's program was listener driven and included discussions about a dog that was shot and killed on a man's private property by a law enforcement officer conducting an investigation, a treasure of old coins pulled from a shipwreck off the coast of Portugal by a Tampa based marine exploration company and Spain's efforts to claim the found coins are their property, and some sound bites from Jackie Mason's radio program regarding comments he made about Barak Obama.

Today's program focused on the conservation of the natural waterways in Florida and in America and, particularly, the need to conserve and protect the quality and quantity of the St. John's River and it's local tributary, the Ocklawaha River. 

Today's show was an attempt to look at the issue of the North American Union but was thrown off course and never recovered.  Oh well...  the joys of live local radio...

Pulse Of The Taxpayer was a caller-driven program today and focused, somewhat, on the issue of permitting teachers in public schools to mention that evolution is not the only theory of creation.  Other issues were politically motivated and focused on the presidential campaign currently underway.

Today's very special broadcast and podcast consists of 22 listeners from Ocala, Florida who were each given two minutes to be on the air to answer the question, "What do you want from the next President of The United States?"

The idea to do this comes from the observation that the listeners to WOCA, which is a small radio station in Ocala, Florida, seem to be concerned about issues that are not being addressed by the Presidential Candidates or even the mainstream media.

Today's program was listener "driven" and, at about the halfway point, became focused on the polygamist cult in the news recently and whether or not they were being singled out for religious reasons or because child abuse and pedophelia was being committed.

Today's Pulse program was caller driven and covered topics that included commentary from Ray Strickland regarding yesterday's interview with Marion County Commissioner Charlie Stone, the polygamist cult in this morning's news, the premise of the United States being a government "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

Today, on Pulse Of The Taxpayer, our special guest was Marion County Commissioner Charlie Stone.  Commissioner Stone addressed several issues of concern to Marion County residents and took questions from listeners as well.  Among the topics discussed were ambulance service, water management, and poker games at the jai-alai fronton. 

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was open-line.  The primary topic was based on an article from the Guardian website, out of Britain, that reported an unofficial movement of American truck drivers to hold a strike as a way of sending a signal to the federal government to address the issue of the high cost of diesel fuel.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was open-line format and, among other issues, we talked about political party delegates and whether or not a "pledged" delegate was ethically bound to his or her pledge.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer featured Bret Cyr, Vice President of the International Association Of EMTs And Paramedics Local Union 621.  Bret continued the discussion from yesterday's show to help the average citizen of Marion County understand the issues facing Marion County Fire-Rescue and the Emergency Management Services Alliance.

Today's guests on Pulse Of The Taxpayer were Heather Danenhower, Public Information Officer, Chief Shari Hall, Chief Bart Walker, all of whom are with Marion County Fire-Rescue.  Our discussion today was focused on the transition process of the ambulance service with the Fire Department and included calls from listeners.

Today's Pulse was open-line format and, among other topics, we discussed the super-delegate and the current situation in Michigan and Florida in which delegates of both the Republican and Democratic Parties are either being banned or are being partially banned from their respective national conventions.

Today's program was open-line and most of the calls were responding to a story of a decision to implement eminent domain in the city of Hollywood, Florida, to take private land and turn it over to another private developer against the wishes of the current property owner.  Other issues included the drilling of oil in the Florida Straits north of Cuba and an official apology issued by the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate for the State's historical position on slavery.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was caller-driven and, among other issues, we discussed the "no-aid" amendment of the Florida constitution and the implications of a movement to remove it in the general election in November.

Pulse Of The Taxpayer was caller driven today.  Among the topics was a proposed one dollar additional tax on a pack of cigarettes, a bill that would expand the list of disorders recognized by the pschiatric profession, an effort to reverse the "no aid" amendment in the Florida constitution, and a bill in Tallahassee to force schools to enforce "droopy drawers" regulations.

Today's Pulse Of The Taxpayer was "Open Line" and listeners generated most of the issues including an idea to pipe rainwater and melting snow water from water rich areas of the country to the more arid areas.  Other issues were also addressed.

Today's guests on Pulse of The Taxpayer were Bruce Fishalow, Executive Director for the Marion County Humane Society and Lillian Pollice, Animal Care Coordinator.  The Humane Society of Marion County is a perfect example of an agency that survives without the aid of tax money.  Bruce and Lillian answered questions and addressed concerns from the listeners.

Today, on Pulse Of The Taxpayer, our guest was Ray Strickland, candidate for Marion County Commission.  Ray fielded questions from the listeners.

Pulse of The Taxpayer was caller/listener driven today.  Local topics included a pedestrian bridge proposal over SR 200, scouting for a parcel of land for a school in Silver Springs Shores, a property tax cut and one cent sales tax on the ballot for Florida in November, and the EMSA issue currently in the transition stage.  National issues included: Ron Paul, Federal Reserve, North American Union, National Debt.

Marion County Commissioner Barbara Fitos and Marion County Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Heather Danenhower were our guests on Pulse today.  The two ladies talked about the transition of Emergency Medical Services Alliance as it merges with the Fire Department.

Our guest on Pulse today was Pete Tesch, President of the Economic Development Council for Ocala and Marion County.  Mr. Tesch answered questions from listeners and gave a comprehensive overview of the mission of the EDC and how that mission is implemented.

Today's guest on Pulse Of The Taxpayer was Robyn Tomlin, Executive Editor for the Star Banner.  Ms. Tomlin answered questions from listeners regarding investigative reporting and the political slant that is often associated with media in general. 

Today was an open-line format on Pulse.  Topics included: Efforts by the state of California to require parents to become certified as teachers before legally home-schooling their children, efforts by the state of Florida Democratic Party to include delegates in the DNC convention, and discussion on a video depicting a U.S. soldier throwing a puppy off of a cliff in Iraq.

Ocala City Manager Paul Nugent was our guest on Pulse Of The Taxpayer today.  Mr. Nugent answered questions from listeners and also gave information on different issues facing the city of Ocala now and in the near future.

Today was an "open line" format on Pulse Of The Taxpayer.  One of the primary topics was based on a news item reporting that newspaper carriers were losing money delivering papers because of the rising cost of gasoline.

Today's guest on Pulse Of The Taxpayer was Bret Cyr, Vice President of International Association of EMTs and Paramedics, Local Union 621, who commented on the transition of EMSA with Ocala/Marion County Fire-Rescue.

Today's program opened with a discussion about an item in today's news which reported that Governor Charlie Crist had proposed tapping into trust funds, primarily established by condominium owners, to add funding to the state budget.  The second half hour featured guest Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform, who told us about legislation pending in Florida to make all government spending "transparent" allowing citizens to see exactly how their tax dollars were being spent.

Today's program focused during the first half on a study to widen SR 40, east of Silver Springs, to a four lane highway.  Our guest during that segment was Bill Walsh, Project Manager for East State Road 40 Widening Project for the State of Florida.  Other issues brought up during the program by listeners included EMSA, the recession, Ron Paul, and other issues.

Today's guest on Pulse Of The Taxpayer was movie producer Mark Mathis who talked about his upcoming film "Expelled" starring Ben Stein.  The film is a documentary and profiles a trend among public universities in the United States to dismiss professors who introduce "intelligent design" into their lectures and curriculums.

Today's guests on Pulse Of The Taxpayer were Gary Schor and Neal Conner from the Liberty Sentinel newspaper.  Health care legislation proposed for the state of Florida kicked off the hour which grew into a discussion about health care, in general, and then to the broader topic of a free market versus a socialized government.

Today's show began with an interview with Sandra Fabry from Americans for Tax Reform who commented about a conference held yesterday in Tallahassee regarding HB181 and SB392 which will make government spending, in Florida, more transparent.  Other issues on today's program were called in by the listeners including gun control, the presidential campaign, and other issues.

Today's program featured Thomazine McNeil from State Representative Larry Cretul's office.  Ms. McNeil told us about a program called Farm Share that will be giving away 42,000 pounds of produce tomorrow in Ocala.  In addition to Ms. McNeil's appearance, listeners chimed in on a number of issues including the NAFTA Highway, and other issues.

Today's guests on Pulse Of The Taxpayer were Marion County Supervisor of Elections Dee Brown and her assistant Wesley Wilcox.  Both Ms. Brown and Mr. Wilcox answered questions from listeners regarding the protocol of an election as well as other issues the Supervisor of Elections Office is responsible for.

Gary Schor, Ocala Bureau Chief for the Liberty Sentinel newspaper was our guest today and discussed a variety of issues from the U.N. land grab, to voter fraud, to Ron Paul, as well as other issues introduced into the dialogue from the listeners.

Today's program featured Florida State Representative Kurt Kelly who spoke about several issues facing the Florida Legislature.

Today's program was driven primarily by calls from the listeners.  Among the issues brought up was the proposal to reduce property taxes by 25% and replacing that revenue through a 1 penny sales tax.

Today is the Presidential Primary date in Florida.  Our guest was Roy Beck, President of Numbers USA who talked about the rate of immigration in the United States.  Listeners called in to weigh in on the subject. 

Former Massachusetts Governor Jane Swift was a guest on today's program, one day before the Presidential Primary Election in the State of Florida, to endorse the candidacy of Senator John McCain for President. 

Gary Schor, from the Liberty Sentinel newspaper, gave us a great program today with intelligent dialogue on the Amendment "1" issue, the Ron Paul campaign, and other related issues.

Today's program featured Florida State Senator Charlie Dean who took a break from the legislative session in Tallahassee to talk about the issues of energy, of water desalination, and even some local issues regarding the ambulance service.  A brief discussion also took place regarding our involvement in Iraq and our freedoms.

Congressman Ric Keller was on today's program to offer support to presidential candidate Senator John McCain.  Also discussed in the course of the program was water-boarding/torture, local ambulance service, Mitt Romney, the Lousiana presidential primary results, and other issues.

Today's program featured an interview with John Sebree, Vice President of Public Policy for the Florida Association of Realtors.  Mr. Sebree was on the air to discuss the constitutional amendment that will revise the property tax laws in the State of Florida.

The first half of today's program featured an interview with author Daniel Estulin about his book "The Bilderberg Group."  In the interview, Estulin predicts that Michael Bloomberg will be elected as the next president of the United States.

The second half of the program was caller driven and included a short discussion on Amendment "1" on the upcoming election to amend the Florida Constitution regarding homestead exemptions and portability of the "Save Our Homes" tax caps.

Today's program was an open-line format and caller driven.  Topics varied from tax issues, to presidential candidates, to an amendment to the Florida Constitution.

Today's program featured special guest Villie Smith, Marion County Property Appraiser.  Mr. Smith discussed the property tax amendment to the state constitution for the State of Florida that voters will decide on in the January 29th election.

Florida Speaker of the House Marco Rubio was our guest today and answered listeners questions about property taxes, education, casinos, and answered a few minor personal questions.

Today's show dealt with Rudy Giuliani's tax proposals, a discussion on public schools and teachers (again), and other issues.

One of the primary issues discussed on today's program is a study, being conducted by the state of Florida, through three public meetings, to determine whether public schools in the state will include the word "evolution."  An other issue included the extra fees tagged onto the Ocala Electric Utilities bills.

An exciting show, for sure.  Today we spoke about public schools, public school teachers, and their efficiency and relevence in today's society.  Other topics included:

One day before the New Hampshire primaries and surprisingly very little dialogue was generated from listeners regarding the presidential campaign.  Nevertheless, Barack Obama and Ron Paul's name both came up as did Mike Huckabee.  Other issues on today's show included upcoming meetings for the Taxpayer's Action Group, and the City Council and County Commission meetings.

Two primary topics were covered on today's program.  Those topics are:

1. Implications and commentary on the Iowa caucus from yesterday.
2. A consideration by the education officials in the state of Florida to include Evolution into the curriculum of public schools and whether or not to also include Creationism.

Today's program featured the audio from the statement by former Pakistani Prime Minister Benadir Bhutto in which she said Osama Bin Laden had been killed. Listeners also brought up the money system in the United States, the $40 coupons for the digital-to-analog boxes, and other issues.

Today's program focused on the Ron Paul campaign with guests Gary Schor and Chris Dillard.  Listener calls fueled the discussion for a lively interview.

We remembered Pearl Harbor on today's program.  We also compared the world as it looked in 1941 to the world we live in today and discussed the importance of remembering the course of events that led to World War II to, hopefully, prevent World War III.

Program Number 20!  Today's program focused on a variety of issues both local and national.

Program Number 19.  Today's program was "caller driven" and focused on politics, religion, and caller feedback.

Program number 18 focused on last night's Republican Presidential debate in St. Petersburg, Florida.  The Israeli/Palestinian issue also was brought up.

Program Number 17. 

Today we discussed the Republican Presidential Candidates Debate being held in St. Petersburg this evening.  We also spoke about:

1. The state of Massachusetts discussing the illegalization of spanking. 
2. Florida releasing beneficial insects to battle unwanted vegetation and harmful insects.
3. Rudy Giulani and Ron Paul 

Program Number 16: The city of Rockledge, Florida wants to pump treated sewage water in to the Floridan Aquifer and the Federal Reserve wants to pump cash into the economy.  These and other issues were discussed on today's show.

Program number 15 was "caller driven."  Callers talked about a variety of local, state, and national issues.  The "NAFTA" highway was brought up when a state issue was mentioned that could authorize the state of Florida to lease toll roads and bridges to private investors.  Opposition from the U.N. to banish the use of Taser Guns also generated calls.  Supporters of Ron Paul called to express that support.  Fred Thompson's name came up regarding his appearance on FOX News Sunday.  Marion County Sheriff's Office expenditures were also a subject mentioned in this broadcast.

Program number 14 focused on the first amendment and a speech by President John F. Kennedy.  Caller participation drove the show this day after Thanksgiving, 2007.

Program number 13 was "open-line" format.  The first half of the show was primarily focused on local water and septic issues.  The second half was a variety of local and other issues.

Carl Wood paid us a return visit to talk about the ordinance being considered by the Marion County Commissioners that would affect a property owner's right to have a well for water. 

Program Number 11.  This was an eclectic conversation with listeners.  Conducted in "open-line" format, the dialogue covered local issues being addressed by the Ocala City Council and the Marion County Commission, as well as national concerns and the presidential candidates.

Program number 10 is an "open-line" program with no guest and plenty of caller generated conversation regarding both national politics and local politics.

Program Number 9 features State Representative Larry Cretul talking with listeners and callers about property taxes.

Program number 8 is a conversation with Republican Presidential Candidate John Cox.

Program Number 7 was a listener-driven program with discussions about the presidential elections and Marion County issues.

Program number 6 recorded on Monday, November 12, 2007.  Today we had two guests from the newspaper Liberty Sentinel.  Neal Conner, Publisher and Alex Newman, Executive Editor commented on local issues as well as national issues.  Caller participation also brought up health care, property rights, and the current lineup of presidential candidates.

Show number 5 featured an interview with Florida State Representative Larry Cretul who spoke about the Fred Thompson for President campaign.  Listeners chimed in and made this a jam packed program representative of the feelings of the American voter or, at least, the voters on Ocala, Florida.

Guest Carl Wood, Director of the Florida Ground Water Association, answered listeners questions about an issue facing the Marion County Commission regarding the possible change in property rights and a citizens right to have a well for drinking water as well as irrigation.  Mr. Wood also addressed other water related questions such as the Floridian Aquifer, runoff into the rivers, etc.
